 The annual Lions Club Turkey Shoot in Springdale is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Austin Excell, of Springdale, a charter member of the Springdale Lions Club established in 1951, was one of the original people who helped organize the first Turkey Shoot in 1955. Excell is the only living founder of the Turkey Shoot. |

Springdale Town Council Opposes Growth Act |

In a symbolic move, the Springdale Town Council voted Thursday to express its opposition to the Washington County Growth and Conservation Act of 2006 as currently drafted. The bill was introduced to Congress in July by Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) and Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah). The Springdale Town Council will present copies of its resolution to both representatives. |

On Saturday, April 22, Springdale will host its second annual Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration. Arbor Day activities will take place at the Springdale River Park from 9:30 until 11 a.m. The Earth Day celebration will continue at the entrance to Zion National Park, in the Giant Screen Theater complex, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
