HURRICANE LIBRARY PRESCHOOL STORY TIME Hurricane Library will host preschool story time. Starting at 10:30 a.m. it will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and will last about 30 minutes. The same program will be presented on Tue. and Wed. and a different program on Thur. and Fri. All preschoolers are welcome, accompanied by an adult.

HURRICANE VALLEY FOOD BANK The Hurricane Valley Food Bank is located at 450 East 800 North in Hurricane. Days and Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations may be dropped off during business hours. In order to qualify for a food box, the following information must be provided. Picture ID for the head of household. Social Security Cards for every household member. Proof of Income (paycheck stubs, etc.). Proof of residence in the Hurricane Valley area (e.g. Utility Bill or mail addressed to you at your address). Your family must meet current poverty guidelines.

They are looking for instructors for painting, ceramics, Tai Chi, exercise, dance and volunteers to help in the kitchen. STRETCHING AND MOVEMENT CLASS Pace stretching and movement exercise classes take place every Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Hurricane Senior Center at 95 N. 300 W. in Hurricane. This provides excellent exercise for those who have arthritis. Suggested donation is $1 per class for seniors 60 years or older. Under 60 is $3.
SINGERS WANTED
SINGERS WANTED The newly formed Hurricane Valley Choir is still accepting new singers. The choir meets on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hurricane Intermediate School on 700 W in Hurricane. Enter the school from the parking lot directly off of 700 W. This new choir performs a wide variety or choral literature, including folk songs, spirituals, sacred music and selections from musical theater. There are no auditions for this group. RANGER BART ANDERSON Ranger Bart is scheduled for the last Thursday of each month at the Hurricane Library and will present a different topic of local interest each month. These lectures will be at 6 p.m., in the Hurricane Library Assembly Room, and all are free to the public. Ranger Bart will also present “The History of Medicine in Washington County” at the Heritage Park Museum May 8 at 7 p.m.

Z-ARTS! FILM SERIES Z-Arts! presents a monthly independent film showcase. Films will be shown at the Zion Canyon Community Center on one Friday night each month. The community is being given a chance to see wonderful films that just don't make it to the local theater because of their independent nature. The next film will be "Burying The Past" a Brian Patrick Film about of a young girl who survived the Mountain Meadow Massacre. MEET THE AUTHOR SERIES Author Linda Weaver Clarke will be speaking at the Hurricane Library May 7 at 6 p.m. Learn the secrets of being an author and the importance of research when writing historical fiction. Listen to an excerpt from her new novel, “Edith and the Mysterious Stranger.” This is the second book in a series of five: A Family Saga in Bear Lake, Idaho.

ACRYLIC ART CLASS The Art Crusade of Hurricane Valley is offering a beginning acrylic art class in Toquerville. This class is designed to provide participants with the basic fundamentals of the media. Tuition for this ongoing class will be $32 for 8 classes which will be held on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Following the first 8 weeks a participant can opt to continue for another 8 week session. PATRIOTIC PROGRAM
PATRIOTIC PROGRAM The Three Falls Elementary Kindergarten will perform a Patriotic Program starring 100 kindergarteners from Three Falls Elementary. They will be singing and dancing 5 patriotic songs, Monday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the High School Auditorium. We invite anyone interested to attend with a special invitation to all veterans.

DRAWING CLASS Liberty (Iverson) Palfreyman will be teaching the fundamentals and techniques of drawing as part of the Art Crusade of Hurricane Valley continuing art class series. The class will be May 30 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Verkin City building located at 111 S. Main St in La Verkin. The tuition is $45 ($40 for Art Crusade Members). Materials needed for the class are pencils (#2 or #2.5 HB lead pencils or softer), a personal sketchpad and a kneadable eraser. The speakers will be Lyman Whitaker, legislative candidate for District 71, and Lin Alder, candidate for Washington County Commissioner.
